Going to production with your quarterly tax payment system requires a few additional steps:

1. Get Approval for EFTPS Enrollment

The first time we submit a tax payment for one of your users, you need to receive approval for Abound to enroll that UserUser - A single end-user of your application. Each user has a unique userId, which should be stored in your database and used to make API requests on behalf of this individual. with EFTPS. The enrollment process is managed by Abound. You simply need to display the authorization process described in the Representative Approval for EFTPS Enrollment guide.

Be sure to contact Abound support to receive approval of your authorization in order to enable your production environment.

2. Verify Payment Methods

Every Quarterly Tax PaymentQuarterly Tax Payment - A non-reversible IRS tax payment that Abound submits. Quarterly tax payments are initiated by calling the Tax Payments API endpoint. has an associated Payment MethodPayment Method - A bank account (checking or savings) from which your user's withholding transfers are pulled, or withdrawal transfers are returned. Each payment method has a unique paymentMethodId. (designated by the paymentMethodId on the taxPayment object), which tells Abound which bank account should be debited for the Quarterly Tax PaymentQuarterly Tax Payment - A non-reversible IRS tax payment that Abound submits. Quarterly tax payments are initiated by calling the Tax Payments API endpoint..

KYC verification required

When creating a paymentMethod in Abound, you are certifying that you have verified the owner of the account by adhering to federal KYC requirements. Reach out to Abound support if you have any questions.

Your app is responsible for verifying the owner of the Payment MethodPayment Method - A bank account (checking or savings) from which your user's withholding transfers are pulled, or withdrawal transfers are returned. Each payment method has a unique paymentMethodId. before submitting a Quarterly Tax PaymentQuarterly Tax Payment - A non-reversible IRS tax payment that Abound submits. Quarterly tax payments are initiated by calling the Tax Payments API endpoint. on the user's behalf. This is done in order to fulfill your KYC requirements, and helps to prevent fraud and returns.
